Studies on Sensitivity Test and Some Side Effects of Rifampicin
Teruo Aoyagi
Abstract
Summary
l) Therapeutic effects of RMP for retreatment cases were excellent if combined with
effective EMB, but patients treated with RMP monotherapy showed high bacteriological
relapse rate.
2) Tubercle bacilli contacted with RMP, acquired high resistance to RMP and it was
found that RMP was ineffective for the tubercle bacilli which grew on the Ogawa's
medium containing 50cg/§¢ of RMP.
3) Antituberculous activity of RMP in Ogawa's medium degraded more promptly and
highly than those of INH.
4) It was suggested that the resistant bacilli to RMP had weaker virulence to mice
than those of sensitive bacilli.
5) The frequency of allergic reaction including thrombocytopenic purpura by
intermittent administration was higher than that by daily administration even if standard
dosis of 9 §·/§¸ of RMP was administered.
6) There were individual differences in the binding rate of RMP to blood cells as well
as that of serum protein and the blood ceil of a case with pancytopenia by RMP
showed the highest binding rate to RMP.
7) A case was reported who showed decreased effect of glucocorticoid by RMP.
